The Soft Skills Most Sought After by Employers
October 11th, 2022
The last
two years have changed the paradigm of what is essential when hiring a person.
Now more than ever, we forget to prioritize degrees and diplomas to start
focusing on the soft skills that people have.
If the
pandemic has taught us anything, it is that everything can change in the blink
of an eye. Not only that, but the digitization of the entire economy has
accelerated exponentially, making common work skills have an ephemeral life.
So, what
skills can you work on to improve your performance in the job market?
We tell
you here:
1. Flexibility and adaptation to
change:
We find
ourselves in a context in which change is normal, it is installed in our lives
and seems to be the only constant from day to day. That is why it is important
to have the ability to react to unforeseen events. Flexibility think of it as a
reed, which can bend in half with changes, but without breaking and maintaining
strong roots. While adaptability refers to your efficiency and calm to face new
scenarios.
2. Teamwork and communication:
It
doesn't matter that you only communicate with the team on virtual calls, being
able to work as a team is a basic requirement for employers. Being
communicative and good at working in a team implies that you can listen to
other people, be honest, open, empathic, and respectful of others. Currently,
companies are working in more horizontal structures, so it is important that
you can work collaboratively.
3. Proactivity:
Be
proactive, not reactive. This is critical to being exemplary in your work. It
is not just about completing assignments and tasks; you need initiative and the
ability to propose new ideas. Hand in hand with proactivity is also the
security that you must have in your abilities to be able to raise your voice
when necessary. Make sure you are the person who raises your hand and takes action!
4. Time management:
Another
thing that the pandemic has left us is autonomy. Working from home also
represents the responsibility of thinking about goals rather than temporary
spaces. Good productivity is essential for the mental and physical well-being
of your person inside and outside of work.
Look for
tools to improve these skills and you will have one more check on your list to
find work.
