Molding Coordinator (Technician)

POSITION SUMMARY:        

This position is responsible for coordinating the daily molding operations, supporting the production of injection molded parts and over-molded cables, and ensuring product quality, documentation accuracy, and efficient manufacturing processes. The role provides technical guidance to Molding Operators while supporting the startup of the Costa Rica manufacturing facility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Verify components and documentation for all molded parts. 
• Manufacture injection molded parts and over-molded cables. 
• Operate injection molding equipment following established work instructions and procedures. 
• Perform basic troubleshooting and support maintenance activities to ensure equipment uptime. 
• Interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation. 
• Complete Device History Records (DHRs) and other controlled documentation accurately and legibly. 
• Maintain product knowledge and ensure compliance with quality requirements. 
• Coordinate the daily activities of Molding Operators to support production schedules and quality standards. 
• Support molding process improvements and continuous improvement initiatives. 
• Assist with inventory counts as required. 
• Support equipment installation, line setup, and other startup activities as needed. 
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Technical Diploma or Associate Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electromechanical, Industrial, Plastics Technology, or a related technical discipline. 
• Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in injection molding or plastics manufacturing. 
• Experience operating and troubleshooting injection molding equipment. 
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation. 
• Experience using ERP systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook). 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
• Ability to prioritize workload, manage multiple tasks, and work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. 
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. 
• Hands-on approach with the flexibility to support a variety of operational activities during the startup phase. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

• Experience in the Medical Device, Pharmaceutical, or other regulated manufacturing industry.  
• Experience manufacturing over-molded cables.  
• Experience supporting molding process improvements.  
• Previous experience coordinating production teams or providing technical guidance to operators.  
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles. 

PHYSICAL DEMAND:  

• Medium work: Exerting up to 55 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up-to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up-to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. 
• Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach. Ability to sit and stand, particularly for extended periods of time.  
• Ability to push, pull and lift objects.  
• Ability to use fingers, grasp, feel and perform repetitive motions.  
• Ability to talk and hear.

Temporary Activities 

This position is in support of a new factory startup and will require activities that may not typically be part of the Molding Supervisor role. Some of the likely activities that will be required early in the startup are included below. 

Temporary Task(s): 

a. Initial equipment installation 

b. General moving activities 

Rationale – Why This Role Should Support These Tasks: 

a. At the early stages of the operation, this position will support the equipment installation and line setup organized by the manufacturing transfer team. The opportunity will allow the Molding Supervisor to gain critical operational knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes 

b. There may be non-production related activities associated with setting up the new facility that this person will need to help with like moving in and general setup activities.
